While the nation was taking part in the last rites of former president A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was seen landing his helicopter in the middle of a golf course, playing a round of golf and snooker, and dancing to a folk song here on Thursday.
The Chief Minister was seen playing golf and snooker in Nagaon.
Gogoi was seen dancing with school girls on a Bihu song, while a funeral procession carrying the former president's body marched towards a crematorium in Rameswaram.
The country's top leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be present for the last rites of the former president, barring Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa who has cited health reasons for her absence.
Kalam, 83, passed away on Monday in Shillong after suffering a massive cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture to students at the Indian Institute of Management.
Tributes have been pouring in from home and abroad for India's "missile man", whose life inspired countless Indians.
His funeral will be held in Rameswaram. Tamil Nadu, at 11 a.m. today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries are expected to attend the funeral.
