Wimbledon staff have tightened their ban on Thermos flasks because of fears of a Boston-style bomb attack.
Traditional picnics on the lawns of the All England Club were reportedly thrown into chaos on Wednesday as spectators had their receptacles confiscated at the gate.
According to the BBC, the Boston Marathon was turned into a bloodbath with bombs that were made of pressure cookers loaded with nails and ball bearings, similar to the killer devices used by terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Concealed in nylon grocery bags, they were left on packed pavements near the finish line of the event last year, killing three people and injuring 264 in the bloodbath that followed two massive explosions.
Wimbledon security guards on Wednesday, fearing a copycat attack, took no chances as they removed flasks, a decades-long staple of the tennis event, during routine bag searches.
Flasks have now joined a long list of prohibited items, including rattles and klaxons, tents, flares, long lenses and camping chairs, the report added.
