Australian equity market finished session highest in more than 2-1/2 weeks on Wednesday, 29 November 2017, as risk appetite buying underpinned by tracking a strong finish on Wall Street overnight ahead of a key US tax vote. Most of sectors were higher with, with financials and material stocks faring best. The S&P/ASX 200 index ended 0.5% or 26.848 points higher at 6011.1. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 713 to 561 and 350 ended unchanged. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 2.08% to 11.687.
