Basic materials stocks edge higher
Basic materials stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index increasing 13.16 points or 0.49% at 2714.73 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Prakash Industries Ltd (up 5.01%), Seya Industries Ltd (up 4.97%),Clariant Chemicals (India) Ltd (up 4.03%),Sunflag Iron & Steel Company Ltd (up 3.62%),GHCL Ltd (up 2.83%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were West Coast Paper Mills Ltd (up 2.42%), Ballarpur Industries Ltd (up 2.33%), Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd (up 2.29%), Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd (up 2.28%), and Bodal Chemicals Ltd (up 1.9%).
On the other hand, Vikas Ecotech Ltd (down 4.93%), Uniply Industries Ltd (down 4.83%), and Sadhana Nitro Chem Ltd (down 3.16%) turned lower.
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 10.55 or 0.03% at 41471.81.
The Nifty 50 index was down 4.5 points or 0.04% at 12210.05.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 33.69 points or 0.25% at 13418.02.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 5.77 points or 0.12% at 4702.03.
On BSE,843 shares were trading in green, 509 were trading in red and 84 were unchanged.
