Basic materials shares gain

Basic materials stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index rising 25.96 points or 1% at 2626.38 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Bhansali Engineering Polymers Ltd (up 10.27%), Manali Petrochemicals Ltd (up 8.01%),Seya Industries Ltd (up 4.96%),Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd (up 4.15%),Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd (up 4.04%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Bhageria Industries Ltd (up 3.93%), Sunflag Iron & Steel Company Ltd (up 3.1%), Tata Steel BSL Ltd (up 2.94%), Orient Cement Ltd (up 2.79%), and Hindustan Copper Ltd (up 2.76%).

 

On the other hand, Uniply Industries Ltd (down 4.97%), Pokarna Ltd (down 4.79%), and Ballarpur Industries Ltd (down 3.64%) moved lower.

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 209.07 or 0.52% at 40621.64.

The Nifty 50 index was up 56.95 points or 0.48% at 11967.1.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 77.04 points or 0.59% at 13223.65.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 30.83 points or 0.67% at 4665.88.

On BSE,917 shares were trading in green, 393 were trading in red and 74 were unchanged.
