Basic materials stocks edge lower

Basic materials stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index decreasing 49.33 points or 1.82% at 2656.21 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 7.65%), Sadhana Nitro Chem Ltd (down 6.17%),Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd (down 5.5%),Jai Corp Ltd (down 5.13%),Pokarna Ltd (down 5.05%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Seya Industries Ltd (down 4.96%), Uniply Industries Ltd (down 4.78%), JSW Steel Ltd (down 4.53%), Tata Steel BSL Ltd (down 4.52%), and Tata Steel Ltd (down 4.33%).

On the other hand, Sharda Cropchem Ltd (up 5.09%), Ballarpur Industries Ltd (up 5%), and Jindal Poly Films Ltd (up 2.25%) turned up.

 

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 189.48 or 0.46% at 40612.69.

The Nifty 50 index was down 69.5 points or 0.58% at 11978.7.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 111.21 points or 0.82% at 13397.01.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 42.01 points or 0.89% at 4696.44.

On BSE,746 shares were trading in green, 1535 were trading in red and 198 were unchanged.
