Metal stocks slip
Metal stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 263.4 points or 2.69% at 9545.95 at 13:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 7.75%), JSW Steel Ltd (down 4.62%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 4.3%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 3.8%),Vedanta Ltd (down 3.08%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 2.52%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 0.7%), Coal India Ltd (down 0.34%), and National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.12%).
On the other hand, NMDC Ltd (up 1.52%), turned up.
At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 189.48 or 0.46% at 40612.69.
The Nifty 50 index was down 69.5 points or 0.58% at 11978.7.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 111.21 points or 0.82% at 13397.01.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 42.01 points or 0.89% at 4696.44.
On BSE,746 shares were trading in green, 1535 were trading in red and 198 were unchanged.
