Energy shares slide

Energy stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Energy index falling 141.22 points or 4.22% at 3209.02 at 13:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Coal India Ltd (down 11.88%), Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (down 10%),Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (down 9.94%),Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (down 9.6%),Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 7.19%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Oil India Ltd (down 6.32%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (down 5.7%), Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (down 4.62%), Goa Carbon Ltd (down 4.4%), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 4.18%).

 

On the other hand, Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 7.59%), Alphageo (India) Ltd (up 1.56%), and Castrol India Ltd (up 1.05%) moved up.

At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 263.1 or 0.91% at 28606.41.

The Nifty 50 index was down 159 points or 1.88% at 8309.8.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 399.04 points or 3.92% at 9783.95.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 104.05 points or 2.88% at 3514.43.

On BSE,530 shares were trading in green, 1743 were trading in red and 150 were unchanged.
