Energy shares tumble

Energy stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Energy index falling 40.46 points or 0.8% at 5024.96 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Aban Offshore Ltd (down 3.75%), Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (down 1.64%),Oil India Ltd (down 1.3%),Reliance Industries Ltd (down 1.13%),Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (down 1.01%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (down 0.82%), Goa Carbon Ltd (down 0.74%), Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 0.59%), Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (down 0.58%), and Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (down 0.48%).

On the other hand, Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 7.22%), Panama Petrochem Ltd (up 2.71%), and Deep Industries Ltd (up 1.65%) moved up.

 

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 62.69 or 0.16% at 40260.92.

The Nifty 50 index was down 18.3 points or 0.15% at 11889.85.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 16.69 points or 0.12% at 13491.44.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 15.63 points or 0.34% at 4662.73.

On BSE,1135 shares were trading in green, 1213 were trading in red and 162 were unchanged.
