Energy stocks edge higher

Energy stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 119.46 points or 2.69% at 4568.49 at 09:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Adani Gas Ltd (up 6.05%), Goa Carbon Ltd (up 4.98%),Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 3.83%),Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 3.4%),Alphageo (India) Ltd (up 3.27%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Coal India Ltd (up 3.18%), Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (up 3.1%), Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (up 2.94%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 2.69%), and Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 2.48%).

On the other hand, Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (down 0.43%), turned lower.

 

At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 614.95 or 1.61% at 38912.24.

The Nifty 50 index was up 169.55 points or 1.51% at 11371.3.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 246.03 points or 1.79% at 13955.04.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 86.04 points or 1.82% at 4817.48.

On BSE,1246 shares were trading in green, 386 were trading in red and 56 were unchanged.
