Identified suspected GST evasion amounting to Rs 12766.85 crore in April-November 2018
The government has identified 3196 cases suspected GST evasion involving an amount of Rs 12766.85 crore in the current financial year during April 2018 to November 2018.State wise, the state Maharashtra accounted for suspected GST evasion of Rs 3898.72 crore, followed by Uttar Pradesh Rs 998.62 crore, Karnataka Rs 844.17 crore, Tamil Nadu Rs 757.34 crore, Haryana Rs 757.19 crore, Delhi Rs 741.52 crore, Gujarat Rs 548.16 crore, Madhya Pradesh Rs 499.16 crore, Jharkhand Rs 494.6 crore, Bihar Rs 490.01 crore, Kerala Rs 447.03 crore and Rajasthan Rs 427.76 crore etc.
The state of Maharashtra has contributed largest recoveries of Rs 2475.27 crore, followed by Uttar Pradesh Rs 605.59 crore, Karnataka Rs 594.99 crore, Bihar Rs 484.02 crore, Tamil Nadu Rs 426.47 crore, Gujarat Rs 405.55 crore, Madhya Pradesh Rs 384.92 crore, Delhi Rs 331.27 crore, Rajasthan Rs 302.11 crore, Haryana Rs 301.23 crore, Kerala Rs 278.35 crore and Jharkhand Rs 246.27 crore etc.
The government has taken various measures to check GST evasion such as intelligence based enforcement, e-way bill squads, systematic analysis of data and Setting-up of Directorate General (Analytics & Risk Management) etc.
