Metal stocks edge higher

Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 177.71 points or 0.97% at 18436.44 at 09:49 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 2.41%), Vedanta Ltd (up 1.01%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 0.96%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 0.96%),Coal India Ltd (up 0.91%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Tata Steel Ltd (up 0.8%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 0.79%), and APL Apollo Tubes Ltd (up 0.5%).

On the other hand, Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 1.23%), and NMDC Ltd (down 0.67%) turned lower.

At 09:49 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 78.81 or 0.15% at 52667.52.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 29.6 points or 0.19% at 15802.35.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 58.38 points or 0.23% at 25118.69.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 30.7 points or 0.4% at 7766.61.

On BSE,1621 shares were trading in green, 969 were trading in red and 98 were unchanged.
