Metal shares tank

Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index falling 258.52 points or 1.78% at 14290.4 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, JSW Steel Ltd (down 2.98%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 2.72%),Vedanta Ltd (down 2.28%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 2.23%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 2.11%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 1.45%), Coal India Ltd (down 1.36%), and Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 1.21%).

On the other hand, Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 1.8%), and NMDC Ltd (up 0.59%) moved up.

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 332.48 or 0.65% at 51112.17.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 83.65 points or 0.55% at 15161.95.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 190.41 points or 0.9% at 21275.7.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 53.38 points or 0.76% at 7078.11.

On BSE,1601 shares were trading in green, 1262 were trading in red and 174 were unchanged.
