Quick Wrap: Nifty Auto Index rises 3.03%, NIFTY jumps 1.63%

Nifty Auto index closed up 3.03% at 6998.45 today. The index is down 8.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Tata Motors Ltd gained 5.66%, Apollo Tyres Ltd added 4.73% and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd rose 4.10%. The Nifty Auto index is down 35.00% over last one year compared to the 3.65% decline in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Energy index added 2.20% and Nifty Realty index added 1.86% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 recorded a gain of 1.63% to close at 11032.45 while the SENSEX added 1.74% to close at 37327.36 today.
