Quick Wrap: Nifty Media Index gains 1.72%

Nifty Media index ended up 1.72% at 2507.85 today. The index has gained 2.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, TV18 Broadcast Ltd rose 3.45%, PVR Ltd jumped 2.26% and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd gained 2.05%. The Nifty Media index has fallen 28.00% over last one year compared to the 2.76% increase in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Energy index gained 1.57% and Nifty IT index increased 1.38% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 witnessed a rise of 0.47% to close at 10779.8 while the SENSEX increased 0.44% to close at 35807.28 today.
