Nifty December 2016 futures trade at premium
The Nifty December 2016 futures traded at 7,998.10, a premium of 69 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 7,929.10 in the cash market. The November 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7,959.35, a premium of 30.25 points compared with the Nifty's closing in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment stood to Rs 5.69 lakh crore.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index lost 145 points or 1.8% to settle at 7,929.10, its lowest closing level since 24 May 2016.
State Bank of India (SBI), Vedanta, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Punjab National Bank (PNB) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI November 2016 futures traded at 259.05, at a premium compared with spot closing of 258.50. Vedanta November 2016 futures traded at 197.40, at a discount from spot closing of 197.50. HDFC Bank November 2016 futures traded at 1200.60, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1199.95.
ICICI Bank November 2016 futures traded at 260.70, at a premium over spot closing of 260.30. PNB November 2016 futures traded at 136.80, near spot closing of 136.70.
The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on Thursday, 24 November 2016. The December 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 December 2016.
