Telecom shares fall

Telecom stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 70.41 points or 5.51% at 1206.42 at 13:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 13.64%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 12.87%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 4.16%),Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 3.9%),OnMobile Global Ltd (down 3.31%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 3.16%), Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 1.04%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (down 0.44%).

On the other hand, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 0.19%), and ITI Ltd (up 0.12%) moved up.

At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 386.51 or 0.94% at 40669.18.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 128.3 points or 1.07% at 11917.5.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 183.6 points or 1.26% at 14348.85.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 63.76 points or 1.27% at 4958.47.

On BSE,586 shares were trading in green, 1767 were trading in red and 156 were unchanged.
