Telecom shares gain

Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 18.78 points or 2.11% at 908.65 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.95%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 3.02%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 2.3%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 1.65%), and ITI Ltd (up 0.47%), were the top gainers.

On the other hand, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.99%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 4.07%), and Reliance Communications Ltd (down 3.28%) moved lower.

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 209.26 or 0.52% at 40495.74.

The Nifty 50 index was up 54.7 points or 0.46% at 11926.8.

 

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 48.23 points or 0.36% at 13391.91.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 26.76 points or 0.58% at 4661.28.

On BSE,909 shares were trading in green, 585 were trading in red and 52 were unchanged.
