Telecom shares gain
Telecom stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 10.75 points or 0.97% at 1116.62 at 09:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Reliance Communications Ltd (up 4.12%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 2.84%),Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 1.81%),OnMobile Global Ltd (up 1.37%),Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 1.06%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were ITI Ltd (up 0.9%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.56%), HFCL Ltd (up 0.53%), and Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 0.46%).
On the other hand, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 3.51%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 0.55%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (down 0.48%) moved lower.
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 38.26 or 0.09% at 40817.85.
The Nifty 50 index was up 20.4 points or 0.17% at 12038.8.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 27.62 points or 0.21% at 13482.85.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 2.98 points or 0.06% at 4718.49.
On BSE,840 shares were trading in green, 529 were trading in red and 55 were unchanged.
