Telecom shares gain

Telecom stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 17.25 points or 1.59% at 1099.88 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 25.91%), Tejas Networks Ltd (up 18.11%),GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.76%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 1.05%),ITI Ltd (up 1.03%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were HFCL Ltd (up 0.58%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 0.4%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 0.33%).

On the other hand, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.97%), OnMobile Global Ltd (down 3.38%), and Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 1.78%) moved lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 178.37 or 0.44% at 40648.07.

The Nifty 50 index was up 37.85 points or 0.32% at 11977.95.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 17.62 points or 0.13% at 13422.13.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 7.14 points or 0.15% at 4695.79.

On BSE,788 shares were trading in green, 647 were trading in red and 64 were unchanged.
