Telecom stocks edge higher
Telecom stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 14.99 points or 1.27% at 1193.93 at 09:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.13%), HFCL Ltd (up 1.57%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 1.43%), Reliance Communications Ltd (up 1.37%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 1.12%), and Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 0.98%), were the top gainers.
On the other hand, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 2.86%), Tejas Networks Ltd (down 1.69%), and Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 1.37%) turned lower.
At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 7.74 or 0.02% at 38615.96.
The Nifty 50 index was up 1.95 points or 0.02% at 11305.25.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 56.61 points or 0.41% at 13717.02.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 28.03 points or 0.59% at 4757.69.
On BSE,564 shares were trading in green, 889 were trading in red and 66 were unchanged.
