Telecom stocks edge lower
Telecom stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Telecom index decreasing 26.74 points or 2.42% at 1077.53 at 13:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 4.9%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 3.41%),HFCL Ltd (down 2.41%),ITI Ltd (down 2.38%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 2.35%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 0.5%), and OnMobile Global Ltd (down 0.41%).
On the other hand, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 10%), Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 9.99%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 7.66%) turned up.
At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 133.27 or 0.42% at 31721.99.
The Nifty 50 index was up 27 points or 0.29% at 9293.75.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 129.75 points or 1.2% at 10930.66.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 39.71 points or 1.05% at 3836.46.
On BSE,1435 shares were trading in green, 892 were trading in red and 185 were unchanged.
