Telecom shares endure heavy losses
Telecom stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 48.37 points or 3.99% at 1163.06 at 13:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 8.26%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 4.18%),ITI Ltd (down 3.78%),Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 3.12%),Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 0.95%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 0.72%), OnMobile Global Ltd (down 0.5%), and HFCL Ltd (down 0.29%).
On the other hand, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 3.11%), Tejas Networks Ltd (up 1.72%), and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 1.05%) moved up.
At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 26.18 or 0.06% at 41181.3.
The Nifty 50 index was down 4.8 points or 0.04% at 12114.2.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 32.16 points or 0.22% at 14882.55.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 5.77 points or 0.11% at 5108.61.
On BSE,1062 shares were trading in green, 1237 were trading in red and 166 were unchanged.
