Telecom stocks gain

Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 8.83 points or 0.79% at 1122.68 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Tejas Networks Ltd (up 9.98%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 6%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.96%),Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 2.74%),OnMobile Global Ltd (up 1.99%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were HFCL Ltd (up 0.85%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 0.8%), ITI Ltd (up 0.54%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.45%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 0.1%).

On the other hand, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 2.44%), Reliance Communications Ltd (down 2.25%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 0.44%) turned lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 122.67 or 0.3% at 41697.81.

The Nifty 50 index was up 36.25 points or 0.3% at 12282.05.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 78.94 points or 0.58% at 13626.75.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 21.9 points or 0.46% at 4768.35.

On BSE,980 shares were trading in green, 495 were trading in red and 79 were unchanged.
