Telecom shares gain

Telecom stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 5.68 points or 0.51% at 1120.86 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 1.12%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 0.83%), HFCL Ltd (up 0.58%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.51%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (up 0.19%), were the top gainers.

On the other hand, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 4.88%), Reliance Communications Ltd (down 3.49%), and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 1.35%) moved lower.

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 28.25 or 0.07% at 41670.91.

The Nifty 50 index was up 15.35 points or 0.13% at 12278.1.

 

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 40.43 points or 0.3% at 13422.46.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 8.57 points or 0.18% at 4708.39.

On BSE,869 shares were trading in green, 520 were trading in red and 80 were unchanged.
