Telecom stocks spurt
Telecom stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 9.09 points or 0.73% at 1256.45 at 09:52 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 11.16%), Tejas Networks Ltd (up 3.57%),Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 2.61%),Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 2.03%),Reliance Communications Ltd (up 1.37%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were ITI Ltd (up 1.15%), and Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.62%).
On the other hand, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 2.63%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 1.1%), and Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 0.18%) turned lower.
At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 143.16 or 0.35% at 41602.95.
The Nifty 50 index was up 41.1 points or 0.34% at 12215.75.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 42.32 points or 0.29% at 14784.04.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 8.48 points or 0.17% at 5104.89.
On BSE,930 shares were trading in green, 585 were trading in red and 57 were unchanged.
