Nifty January 2017 futures at slight premium
The January 2017 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8104.85, a premium of 1.25 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8103.60 in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment fell to Rs 6.53 lakh crore from Rs 6.57 lakh crore registered yesterday, 28 December 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 68.75 points or 0.86% to settle at 8,103.60, its highest closing level since 19 December 2016.
HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries, Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Yes Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. HDFC Bank January 2017 futures traded at 1206.10, at a premium over spot closing of 1203. State Bank of India January 2017 futures traded at 247.90, at a premium over spot closing of 247.20. Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries January 2017 futures traded at 617.90, at a premium over spot closing of 615.10.
BPCL January 2017 futures traded at 632.70, at a discount over spot closing of 635.05. Yes Bank January 2017 futures traded at 1151, at a premium over spot closing of 1150.30.
The December 2016 F&O contracts expire today, 29 December 2016. The January 2017 F&O contracts are set to expire on 25 January 2017.
