Utilties shares tumble

Utilties stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Utilities index falling 40.83 points or 2.22% at 1796.65 at 13:52 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Utilities index, GAIL (India) Ltd (down 5.37%), Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (down 4.8%),Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (down 4.73%),Reliance Power Ltd (down 3.91%),Adani Transmission Ltd (down 3.21%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were A2Z Infra Engineering Ltd (down 2.54%), Tata Power Company Ltd (down 2.26%), Mahanagar Gas Ltd (down 2.23%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (down 2.21%), and Torrent Power Ltd (down 1.97%).
On the other hand, Rattanindia Power Ltd (up 9.87%), GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd (up 7.94%), and BF Utilities Ltd (up 2.27%) moved up.
At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 140.95 or 0.34% at 41318.84.
The Nifty 50 index was down 39.35 points or 0.32% at 12135.3.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 16.62 points or 0.33% at 5079.79.
On BSE,953 shares were trading in green, 1411 were trading in red and 151 were unchanged.
