Nifty March futures continue to trade at discountThe Nifty March 2020 futures were at 7,580.10, a discount of 30.15 points compared with the spot closing at 7,610.25.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 4.16 lakh crore compared with Rs 18.07 lakh crore reported in the previous session.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index crashed 1,135.20 or 12.98% at 7,610.25.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, jumped 6.64% to 71.56.
On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 26 March 2020 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 20.08 lakh at the 12,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 15.34 lakh contracts was seen at 9,000 strike price.
Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank and HDFC were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE.
Reliance Industries March 2020 futures were at 887.30, compared with spot closing price of 891. HDFC Bank March 2020 futures were at 776.95 compared with spot closing price of 778.90. HDFC March 2020 futures were at 1,518.45, compared with spot closing price of 1520.70.
