16 Taliban militants killed in Afghanistan

At least 16 Taliban militants have been killed by the Afghan police and army during a series of operations carried out across the country, the interior ministry said here Tuesday.

Police units backed by the army have killed 16 Taliban rebels and arrested six others across the country in the recent operations, the interior ministry said in a statement.

It said there were no casualties among the security personnel, Xinhua reported.
