Arsenal sign Greek defender Mavropanos

Arsenal made their first signing of 2018 -- in form Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos from PAS Giannina F.C.

"Young Greek defender Mavropanos has signed for us," Arsenal announced in a statement on Thursday.

The 20-year-old is seen as one of the brightest talents in the Greek game. Mavropanos has made a name for himself during a breakthrough campaign for regional side PAS.

The then-teenager made his senior debut against Agrotikos Asteras in the Greek Cup in November 2016, playing the full 90 minutes and helping his side keep a clean sheet.

The defender made his Greek Super League debut in the next few months and, after a string of impressive performances in PAS' back line, established himself as an integral first-team player.

 

Mavropanos is known for his ball-winning ability and aerial prowess.
