Assam's ex-CM Prafulla Mahanta injured in road accident

Former Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta was injured in a road accident on Tuesday evening in Nagaon district, police said.

The Asom Gana Parishad leader and two-time chief minister was injured in his legs after a truck hit his vehicle in Bebejia area.

"Four people -- Mahanta, his son and two others -- received injuries. He was taken to the Nagaon civil hospital immediately. The condition of all four is said to be alright and they are out of danger now," a party colleague said.

Mahanta was on his way to his constituency Barhampur from Guwahati when the accident took place.
