Reacting to the poll results in five states, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said the results reveal that it was anti-incumbency that worked and not any 'Modi wave'.

"If it was Modi wave then the BJP would have won in all five states. The results that have come out show it was anti-incumbency that worked and not any Modi wave," Vijayan said while speaking to reporters.

"If you analyse the 2014 UP Lok Sabha poll results with today's results, the BJP had an even bigger victory then," he said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party in Kerala has just one seat in the 140-member assembly. They finished second in five constituencies in the May 2016 Vidhan Sabha polls and now are looking to win in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
