It was a cold but clear Monday, as the maximum temperature was recorded at 16.2 degrees Celsius, five notches below the season's average. The Met department has forecast a similar Tuesday.
"Tuesday will start with moderate fog but the sky will remain clear. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 17 and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The fog Monday morning delayed the arrival and departure of 54 trains.
According to the Northern Railway, 38 trains were running late while 16 were rescheduled and six were cancelled due to the fog in and around the capital.
Monday's minimum temperature settled at 5.7 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average.
Sunday's maximum temperature settled five notches below the season's average at 16 degrees, while the minimum was one notch below average at 6.6 degrees Celsius.
