Congress doing 'politics of fear' against Modi government: BJP

The BJP on Monday accused the Congress of practising "politics of fear, confusion and concoction" against the Narendra Modi government and said results of three northeast states show that such attempts do not succeed.

"The politics of fear and concoction does not last long. People not only understand it but also reject at the earliest opportunity those who practise it," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad told the media here.

Prasad said the Congress failed to secure a single seat in Tripura and Nagaland and could not retain its government in Meghalaya.

He said the results in Tripura was a "tectonic shift" in the politics of India and put to rest Left's claim that it could not be defeated by the BJP in a direct contest.

BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) scored an emphatic victory in Tripura winning over two-thirds majority.

Prasad said the Congress had sought to spread misinformation against the Modi government on a range of issues, including Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance Bill (FRDI Bill), bank convenience charges, Doklam stand-off with China, Rafale deal, Goods and Services Tax and demonetisation.

He said the FRDI Bill was still under discussion and rumours about bank convenience charges had proven to be false.
