Delhi Police's specialized unit to probe frauds of lesser amount

A specialized unit of Delhi Police's Economic Offense Wing (EOW) will probe all cases of financial crimes involving less than Rs.two crore.

All 11 police districts of Delhi will have one such unit.

The EOW is a specialised unit of Delhi Police which at present investigates frauds involving Rs.2 crore or above.

"It has been observed that people who are the victims of fraud of smaller amount did not get speedy investigation. Such unit will get them a speedy investigation," said Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi.

He said officials of District Investigation Unit (DIU) will be involved in the investigations of such frauds and EOW officials will supervise them.

 

DIU officials now help local police stations in investigations of other crime.
