It was a warm Tuesday for Delhi a day after the capital saw heavy rains. The met department has forecast light showers Wednesday.

The maximum temperature Tuesday was recorded one notch above average at 38.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum settled a notch above average at 26 degrees Celsius.

"The sky will be partly cloudy and light rains are expected in some parts of the capital," said an official of Indian Meteorological Department. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 39 degrees and 26 degrees respectively.

Cool winds and showers Monday brought respite to Delhi residents reeling under intense heat. The capital received 15.3 mm rain from 8.30 a.m. Monday to 8.30 a.m. Tuesday.

The mercury crossed the 40 degree mark last week.
