Don't miss majestic 'Desert Breath' on Google Map

No, this is not a landscape for aliens to land their extraterrestrial aircrafts or an ancient monument unearthed in the Egyptian desert.

This amazing photograph is an environmental art installation and Google Map has taken an awesome image of this piece of artwork from above the sky.

Billed as Desert Breath, the huge 1 million square foot structure is constructed as two interlocking spirals - one with vertical cones, the other with conical depressions in the desert floor, said media reports.

Desert Breath was originally designed with a small lake at its centre but the lake has emptied.

It was created by the D.A.S.T. Arteam, a group made up of three artists - sculptor Danae Stratou, industrial designer sculptor Alexandra Stratou and architect Stella Constantinides - in 1997.

"The project was meant to suggest an experience of infinity with the desert as a landscape of the mind. Even though it is in a state of slow disintegration, 'Desert Breath' is still viewable almost two decades after its creation," said the creators.

It consists of 89 protruding cones of gradually increasing size set in a spiral and another 89 depressed (incised) cones set in spirals.

The sand dug out from the depressed cones was used to create the protruding cones, resulting in the displacement of 280,000 square feet of sand.
