Five killed in China oil tanker explosion

Five people were killed after an oil tanker exploded in China's Hubei province, authorities said Saturday.

Three people were also injured in the accident that happened Friday night in Zigui county, Xinhua reported citing a statement issued by the county government.

The oil tanker overturned and exploded, killing its driver and villagers in the immediate vicinity. Three houses were severely damaged by the explosion, it said.

Over 70 police officers and firefighters joined the rescue operation.
