GJM activists burn police vehicles in Darjeeling

Angry Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) activists damaged and torched four police vehicles and stoned policemen who lobbed tear-gas shells to quell the agitation here on Thursday.
The violence erupted near Bhanu Bhavans where the GJM supporters were holding a rally to press their demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland and a circular from the Mamata Banerjee government that it had no intention to 'impose' Bengali in the north Bengal hills.
Banerjee, now on a tour here, is holding a meeting of her cabinet.
