The Himachal Pradesh cabinet Saturday gave its approval for signing an agreement with the central government for setting up a medical college in Hamirpur town with an in-take capacity of 100 MBBS students per year.

The cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, gave the approval to the proposal, a government spokesperson told IANS.

The college will be set up under the central government scheme of establishing new colleges with an outlay of Rs.189 crore each on 90-10 ratio of cost sharing between the central and the tate governments.

The state has already signed similar agreements with the central government for setting up two medical colleges in Chamba and Nahan towns.
