Union Tourism and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma Friday laid emphasis on hospitality education and said the strength of the tourism relies heavily on it.
"Hospitality is the strength of the tourism sector and the education given to the students will become the backbone of the country in this sector," said Sharma at the ceremony to present National awards for Excellence in Hospitality Education.
He also appreciated the award winners by calling them "ambassadors of the Indian culture".
These awards, aimed at giving recognition for academic excellence in hospitality education, were given in four categories including those to individual students for excellence in academic performance, best teachers, best institute and special awards.
