Angelique Kerber entered the final of the Family Circle Cup tennis tournament beating defending champion Andrea Petkovic in an all-German semi-final match here.
No.3 seed Petkovic seemed like an on-paper favourite against Kerber but the No.5 seed was the more dominant player on Saturday, winning 6-4, 6-4.
"I'm so close with Andrea. We're really good friends. It's always tough to play against someone like that," Kerber said after the match.
"I'm just happy to be in the final here," she said.
"This is an amazing tournament, and the fans are amazing too. I'm looking forward to coming back to play in front of you all again tomorrow."
Kerber will take on American Madison Keys in the final on Sunday.
