After Calcutta High Court Justice C.S. Karnan refused to be examined, state-run Calcutta Pavlov Hospital which was given the responsibility to carry out the medical examination, will submit his signed letter to the Supreme Court, sources said on Thursday.

"He didn't submit for the examination. So whatever he has given in writing will be submitted to the Supreme Court by tomorrow (Friday), without any comment," a source at the hospital said.

Karnan on Thursday declined to undergo any check-up after a medical team turned up at his residence following a Supreme Court order, saying he is "absolutely normal". He termed the seven apex court judges as "terrorists" and the order an insult to a "Dalit judge".

"Medical treatment is not required to (sic) me. Medical treatment is required to (sic) the patient. I am alright. I am not a patient. Yes, I am more than normal," he said.

Karnan told the team of four doctors from Calcutta Pavlov Hospital that his wife and sons were not in Kolkata and such a test can't be done without the consent of his family.

He handed a signed letter to the doctors addressed to the chairman of the medical board constituted to examine him.

A seven-judge Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar on Monday directed the setting up of a medical board to examine Karnan on May 4 and submit the evaluation report on May 8.
