Madhya Pradesh municipality chief held for graft

The chairman of a municipality in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh has been arrested by the state Lokayukta Police on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs.10 lakh, a senior official said on Sunday.
According to the Lokayukta Police in Indore, Sanawad-based builder Praveen Singh Solanki complained to Superintendent of Lokayukta Police Arun Mishra that Sanawad municipality chairman Narendra Sharma had demanded a bribe of Rs.25 lakh for granting permission for an upcoming commercial complex in a residential colony in Anand Vihar locality of the city.
Deputy Superintendent of Lokayukta Police B.S. Parihar told media persons that the Sharma was apprehended on Saturday while accepting a bribe of Rs.10 lakh at the local bodies department's office in Indore.
He has since been bailed out.
