The toll after Saturday's devastating quake in Nepal has climbed to 3,351 and 6,833 people have been injured, the country's home ministry said on Monday.

Sindhupalchowk, a district near capital Kathmandu, reported 875 deaths, the highest number in one district, Xinhua news agency reported citing home ministry spokesman Laxmi Dhakal.

Central Nepal has been most affected in Saturday's 7.9-magnitude earthquake.

The temblor jolted central, western, mid-western and far-western parts of Nepal, which was followed by at least 15 strong aftershocks, the last one of 6.7 magnitude occurring on Sunday afternoon.

The quake has also caused property damages worth billions of dollars in the country, officials said.
