President accepts Narayanan's resignation

President Pranab Mukherjee Thursday accepted the resignation of M.K. Narayanan as governor of West Bengal, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said.

"He has appointed D.Y. Patil, governor of Bihar, to discharge the functions of the governor of West Bengal, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the governor of West Bengal are made," it added.
