Manipur Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of six persons on charge of involvement in the killing of Ningombam Nabachandra, a former People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) chairman and his driver.

Nabachandra and his driver Leishangthem Sanjit were killed on April 21 night within the camp of 7 Manipur Rifles at Khabeishoi in Imphal East district.

Red army, the military wing of PREPAK, an outlawed underground organisation, had claimed responsibility for the crime.

Manipur's Director General of Police L. M. Khoute said said: "A person staying within the complex was picked up and he spilled the beans on the crime, leading to the arrest of five more persons."
