Congress President Sonia Gandhi is to remain in hospital for some more time as she is suffering from fever due to infection, doctors said on Thursday.

The Congress chief underwent a surgery to fix a dislocated shoulder after she collapsed due to exhaustion during a rally at Varanasi earlier this month.

"This morning, a team of doctors has examined Sonia Gandhi. They have advised her to remain in hospital on account of fever due to infection in the body," said D.S. Rana, Chairman, Board of Management, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

Rana said that Gandhi is on antibiotics.

She was admitted to Ganga Ram Hospital on August 3 afternoon with fever, dehydration and a shoulder injury. She later underwent a surgery to fix a dislocated shoulder.

Gandhi, who fell ill during a rally at Varanasi, was initially admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital.
