Tax offices to remain open on Saturday

The government said on Friday that all field offices of customs, central excise and service tax shall remain open on March 28, Saturday, to facilitate filing of returns by e tax-payers.

"In view of closing of the current financial year, the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has decided to keep open all the field offices to facilitate the tax-payers in payment of taxes, filing returns and in carrying out other procedural formalities," the finance ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, the special measure taken by the CBEC is in addition to the 24x7 facilities which is provided by the customs formations at the ports and airports.
